Such a great helper!

Joey helped me give Benji his first real bath today!  He especially loved “rinsing” him using his own bucket.  Joey was very gentle and even helped me dry Benji off!  Benji LOVED being submersed in the water.  He had previously cried through every sponge bath so I was glad to see this change!

Benji had his 2 week doctor’s appointment today.  He checked out perfectly and even performed for the doctor by rolling over as he was examined.

Dinner with Nanny and Poppy

Nanny and Poppy came over last night to hang with us.  Joey spent a lot of time playing choo-choos with Nanny while Poppy “prepped” dinner.  Poppy is officially enjoying his retirement by spending more time in the kitchen and we are directly benefitting (2 home-cooked meals in 2 weeks)!  We’re currently in negotiations to make this a regular thing!

Meeting Grandma!

Benji finally got to meet Grandma a few nights ago.  Grandma was in Spain with her sister and nieces when Benji was born so Wednesday night was their first opportunity to get to know each other!

Happy New Year

It’s amazing how things of changed….  It was only just a few years ago that Greg and I were out until 4AM, spending $500+ and getting stranded for hours as we waited for a taxi on NYE.  The best part?  We thought it was sooo fun!  This year, we ate left overs (I at least made a fresh salad), played with choo-choos and were in bed by 10PM.

First catch!

Today was a big day for Greg (and Joey).  He’s been waiting to play “catch” with Joey for months!

Today was also a big day for Grandpa.  Joey decided to give Grandpa a nickname and now calls him “Pa”.  We went to dinner with Pa at Bacchanalia’s.  Joey was so well behaved and Benji slept the entire time (shocker).  The food was great and there were so many leftovers that we have dinner for tomorrow night!

We dropped Greg at Bull & Bear for happy hour and headed to Bubbie & Zeyde’s.  I was proud of myself for getting the boys unloaded from the car and upstairs on my own!  There’s definitely a lot more gear these days!

Benji’s Bris

I learned today that the bris is no easier the second time around!  Despite it being a difficult day for us, Nanny and Poppy hosted a beautiful brunch in Benji’s honor!  Big brother Joey was on his best behavior and loved eating all of Nanny’s homemade cookies!

Benji’s Newborn Shoot!

We had Benji’s photo shoot yesterday morning.  Lidia from Siberia Photography took the photos (she also did the maternity shoot we did a few months ago).  It was quite the feat getting everyone up and looking their best by 8:30AM, but we did it!  Here are a few photos I took.  I can’t wait for the photos to be ready in a few weeks!

Christmas Day

Hanging at home

We spent the day inside today, just enjoying one another.  I made french toast for breakfast and Joey loved dipping the bread in the syrup.  Sam came over for a play date a bit later and the boys had a blast playing at the train table and “sharing” snacks.

Joey is beginning to realize that Benji isn’t here for just a visit!  He’s getting a little more comfortable being around him each day….

I realized yesterday when we headed out for the doctor that I didn’t have winter gear to fit a newborn.  Fortunately, Bubbie showed up this morning with a new coat (or two) and a few hats (see below)!

Almost 5 days in, Benji continues to be extremely easy going.  He loves his sleep, enjoys his pacifier when trying to get back to bed, pees through his clothes often and sleeps best when swaddled.  Fingers crossed, he’ll continue to be content 🙂

Happy Birthday, Zeyde!

We had a busy day today!  The morning started out with Benji’s 4-day-old appointment.  He checked out perfectly, weighing 8lbs 6oz.  He managed to poop on the nurse twice while she was examining him!  Joey came with and was glad he wasn’t there for a checkup of his own.  He still got a choo-choo sticker on the way out, though, for being so patient!

We had brunch at EBC with Zeyde, Bubbie, Cari, Sophie, Vinnie, Lori, Michele & Billy to celebrate Zeyde’s 57th birthday.  Joey was great, especially once he learned he had direct access to the cookies on the buffet.

Benji slept most of the time but woke up for a few minutes to eat (and pee through his outfit for a second time).  We came home after brunch and got a bunch of laundry done before the Bears game started.

Brotherly Love

We set Joey (who is 19 months today) up on the couch next to Benji for a few minutes last night.  Joey was extremely gentle with him….such a good big brother already!
