Rolling, rolling, rolling

It’s unbelievable, but Benji is already on the move!  Not that I plan to compare the two much, but Benji rolled 2 days ahead of Joey!  Point Benji!

First day/night at home!

We were able to break out of Prentice by 3PM yesterday.  Benji enjoyed the ride home, staying awake and checking out the scenery!

He did great last night!  After figuring out why he was fussy around 1AM (poopy diaper), he quickly went back to his “feed every 3 hours” schedule.  It was a fairly uneventful night and Greg and I were both able to get some sleep!  Joey had a sleep over with Bubbie and Zeyde.  He woke up this morning and went for a nice swim with Zeyde before heading home.

So far, he likes the swing!

This morning, Nanny and Poppy came over.  Poppy cooked us an awesome breakfast (eggs, hash browns, fresh fruit and french toast with bananas) and Nanny got some quality time in with Benji!  They also brought me the most beautiful gift!  The photos don’t do them justice, but they’re awesome sneakers (from Lester Lampert) that have the kids’ names written in the bottom!  One of the best gifts I have ever received 🙂

Bubbie, Zeyde, Great Bubbie GoGo and Aunt Cari came by for a bit, too!  Cousin Sophie, Uncle Billy, Aunt Michele, Aunt Lori and Uncle Vinnie came to meet Benji this afternoon!

First 24 hours = success!

Benji has been a dream these past 24 hours!  He has barely fussed at all and is sleeping and eating well too.  Greg went home to be with Joey last night (and so at least one of us could get a good night sleep).  By 8PM, Benji and I were on our own!

Fortunately, Stacy came by to meet him later on.

Although I didn’t sleep well, it had nothing to do with Benji!  He slept great and I even had to wake him to feed.  I had planned to have him sleep in the nursery but he was so easy that he stayed with me.

This morning (before Greg arrived) I had a blast washing his hair, getting him dressed and taking pictures!

Benji’s doing so well that they released him this morning.  I’m hoping to get the same news this afternoon so we can spend our first night at home tonight as a family of 4!

Big brother Joey is spending the morning with Nanny.  He’s having a blast!

Joey & Benji meet!

Joey met Benji last night for the first time.  Greg brought Joey to the hospital for dinner with Grandpa and some “hang out” time before they went home for a good night sleep (thanks for dinner!) It couldn’t have gone better.  Joey said “hi” and then continued on with his business of rough-housing with Grandpa.  He had no issues (yet) with me feeding Benji in front of him either.

Meeting for the 1st time!

Benjamin Eli Goodman

Our beautiful son, Benjamin Eli Goodman arrived at 2:10AM on 12-20-12, weighing 8lbs 12oz and measuring 21 inches tall.  Our little man decided he wanted to share his birthday with Great Bubbie GoGo!

The labor/delivery process was extremely smooth!  I was supposed to be induced this morning at 6:30AM, but Benji decided to come in on his own terms.  I went to see Dr. Sibul yesterday afternoon for a regular checkup and started having contractions 30 minutes after I left. Grandpa came over for dinner and to hang with Joey while we waited to see if it was the real deal.

Around 8PM, we decided it was true labor and headed out!

6 hours later (and only 3 pushes), Benji arrived in tip top shape!

Check out the cord wrapped around his neck (it freaked me out but Dr. McGee quickly reassured us)

Benji has had a ton of visitors already today!  Grandpa, Nanny, Poppy, Bubbie, Zeyde, Abby, Cari, Michele, Lori, Ricky, Debrah & Great Aunt Val have all spent time getting to know him!

His first 15 hours of life have been nothing but peaceful.  So far, he’s the calmest baby we’ve ever met…he barely wakes to eat!  Fingers crossed, he’ll keep it up 🙂

Go Bears (and happy birthday Billy & Charles)

G2- Where are you?! Your due date has come and gone and your brother, father and I (as well as many others) are anxiously awaiting your arrival! I’ve gotten what I thought was my final mani/pedi for a while and have blow dried my hair more in the last few weeks than I have over the last few months!

We had a busy Sunday….We played trains ALL morning long!  Here is a photo of Joey hugging Thomas.

Happy 30th birthday, Charles!  We took Charles to lunch this afternoon at Bull & Bear to celebrate….It was great catching up with him, Aaron and Jessie!

Kobe beef hotdog food coma

After brunch, we headed to the Burnetts for the football game.  Joey had a great time cheering them on (and eating plenty of cookies and chips)

Hanging with his cousin, aunts and uncle!

Happy birthday!  It’s going to be a BIG year!

Grandma & Grandma have arrived in Chicago!  Now there’s no excuse for G2 to hold off any longer!  We grabbed dinner with them tonight at Davanti Enoteca.  Everyone loved their meal 🙂

Mazel Tov, Kelley & Brian!

Last night we celebrated at the wedding of two of our very good family friends!  They initially started dating after running into one another at Lori & Vinnie’s wedding!

Happy Birthday, Bilary!

We celebrated Billy and Hilary’s birthday this week at Shabbos!

Sophie was perfectly behaved this week!  Joey had a great time showing her his choo-choos.

The uncles have taught Joey a wonderful game called “fall on face”.  Check out below….

Celebrating Hannukah at nursery school

I finally got to take Joey to school this past week.  Great Bubbie GoGo joined us for a bit and then Bubbie arrived.  It was a special week, as the older kids did a Hannukah performance for the younger kids!  Joey found the performance mildly entertaining and spent the majority of the time coloring or chasing after Bubbie.

Singing songs and marching (not Joey’s favorite activity)

Last dinner as a family of 3? Guess not….

We ventured out for dinner tonight.  Joey got to bring his new Thomas sticker book, which he received for Hannukah).  700 stickers is going to keep him occupied for a LONG time!

Enjoying maternity leave!

I’ve been taking care of business the last few days, running last minute errands and shopping for things we “need” for G2.  Lori, Sophie and I hit up an awesome children’s sample sale yesterday.  The only way up with a stroller was through the freight elevator.  I cant believe I actually got in it….

Its so much easier to justify my unnecessary purchases by remembering I’m not just shopping for G2, but for Baby Burnett as well.  Check out some of my favorite finds….

Joey is getting used to Hannukah and knows where we’ve stashed the gifts.  Right after Greg gets home from work, Joey stands by the bar waiting to unwrap something new.  Not a good habit!!

Opening presents!

Joey was not thrilled with what I made for dinner last night, so he ended up eating spoonfuls of peanut butter straight out of the jar (like father and grandfather, like son)….

Joey made this art project especially for Aunt “Meeshell,” who came to visit last night and play with Joey’s choo-choos.

I had my 39.5 week appt with Dr. Sibul.  Everything is progressing smoothly and my body is “ready” for labor.  We’ll just have to wait and see when G2 thinks its time as well.  If I don’t go into labor on my own, I’ll be induced on 12-20-12.  I think Dr. Sibul is still recovering from the size of Sophie.  He says G2 feels “heavy” and doesn’t want him getting to big.  I can’t believe G2 will be here in just one week!

Hannukah – Night 3

Joey and Breanna made a Hannukah present for Greg and I today.  So sweet!

We lit the candles at home tonight.  We also celebrated my last day of work (I’m officially on maternity leave until April)!  I’m very proud of the fact that I made it to 39+ weeks.  Lets hope we’re not waiting another two weeks until G2 arrives!

Joey loved his gifts tonight!  He got a soccer jersey, golf set and Elmo chair.

He didn’t understand that the golf and the Elmo chair didn’t go together.  He had a blast sitting in the chair while swinging the golf club, though.

Joey has a new word!

Aunt Abby!

Celebrating Hannukah with Family

We started the day off at the Waxes, celebrating with Greg’s side of the family.  Joey was overwhelmed with all of the gifts he received (and loved each and every one of them)!

High-fiving Ellis as a “thank you” for his awesome gift

Joey stole a loaf of challah off the table when we weren’t looking and chomped right into it, as if it was his own personal piece.  After carrying it around like a football and leaving crumbs throughout the living room, we traded him for a bagel (which he still enjoyed).

Lighting the candles with his cousins

Time for some chocolate!

Dreidel time with Nanny

Back at home, Joey loved playing with his new tow truck from Nanny & Poppy

After a quick nap, we headed to Bubbie and Zeyde’s for Hannukah.  Cammie & Blake got to meet Sophie for the first time!
