Hannukah 2012

We’ve been preparing Joey for Hannukah all week by reading books, talking about the significance and doing crafts!  Here’s what he made at nursery school with Nanny!

Bubbie and Zeyde had Joey all day today, which gave us plenty of time to assemble his first gift- a trampoline (it was way harder than it looks)!  We also hung artwork, ran errands and got ready for G2’s arrival (we’re 39 weeks tomorrow!)

We celebrated night #1 with the Bohrers.  It so cute to watch them play side-by-side!

Joey loved having Jason bounce him up high!

Lighting the menorah and singing Hannukah songs!

Joey got two new Thomas trains from Lucy which he, of course, loved!

Pretty in pink!

December Shabbat

We had a great time at Shabbat last night, getting to spend some quality time with Sophie!  We ordered in (for once), which was really nice because Bubbie got to hang out with us instead of spending the evening cooking up a storm!

Zeyde time!

Thursday Play

Joey got some 1-on-1 time with Max before the “big kids” arrived.  He was very gentle with him the entire time, until it was time for “catch”.  We’ve worked really hard to make sure Joey knows not to throw anything besides a ball.  Now we need to teach him no throwing balls at babies.

Chow fest, per usual

Happy 1st Birthday, Lucy!

We had a GREAT time celebrating with Lucy and her family this weekend.  She LOVED her party, as did Joey!  Sophie even made an appearance and was a perfect angel-she slept the entire time!

Joey couldnt get enough of all of the gym equipment.  He had a hard time sitting for “circle time” because he was so distracted and excited by everything.

So brave- I let him hang (and fall) on his own!

Time for the parachute!

Aunt Lori & Joey playing together

When the balls came out, Joey had a blast hiking them all over the gym!

Catching bubbles with Joey’s playgroup friends, Scarlett & Olivia!

POP!

Potty break- I find it hilarious that he makes it so obvious!

Super-cute cake and cookies!

Posing with the birthday girl!

Joey kept eating and eating, despite everyone else around him finishing/leaving.  He REALLY must have loved the pizza they served!

3 sisters maternity photo shoot

Aunt Michy had the brilliant idea to capture our unique circumstances before it was too late!  We were able to gift the photo to Bubbie and Zeyde for their anniversary / Hannukah this year!  Here are the two we FINALLY all agreed on!

Loving his grub

All smiles during pizza dinner!  We ordered Lou Malnati’s because Greg was out of town (and he always prefers Edwardo’s).  Joey LOVED picking the tomatoes off the top of the pizza and eating them!

18 Month Checkup & 37 Week Appointment

I had my 37 week check up yesterday.  Everything is looking right on schedule and it doesn’t look like we’re having a baby any time soon!  I did a non-stress test to make sure the baby was still comfortable inside and he’s as happy as can be!  Dr. Sibul guesstimates he’s around 7lbs right now.

After spending the afternoon at the doctor, it was time to take Joey to his appointment.  We were not looking forward to the event, as Joey has HATED the doctors office since his 12 month visit.

We came armed with plenty of distractions this time (Thomas works wonders these days!)

The doctor was running a half hour behind so we kept ourselves occupied while we waited….

Boots

Check up time 🙁

Joey is growing (height and head circumference) right on schedule.  He still has a huge head (95%) and is hanging onto his tall stature (80% for now, at least).  He still hasn’t gained any weight (24lbs, 8 oz / 60%) since his 12 month appointment so he’s been ordered to continue drinking whole milk and eat plenty of “good fats”.  We’ll go back in 2 months for another weight check!

Joey recovered pretty quickly from the trauma of getting 3 shots.  So much so that we were able to go out and enjoy a nice dinner at Shine!

Eating edamame (one of his favorites!)

Happy Man

Drumming with the chopsticks!

I dont know what came over him, but he started blowing kisses to all of the waitresses in the restaurant….what a ladies man!  They gave him handfuls of fortune cookies for turning on the charm!

How fitting a fortune for me….

Happy 70th Birthday, Poppy!

Poppy turned 70 today.  We can’t believe it, as he looks and acts not a day over 50!  We had a great time celebrating tonight at their house.  Poppy insisted on cooking his famous fried chicken (it was EXCELLENT) and we all had a great time celebrating him!

Group shot

They’re growing up so fast!

Gary, Tamar and Jordan joined us via FaceTime for presents/cake!

Wine cake

Making a big wish!

We were able to get a very special gift together for Poppy’s birthday this year.  All of the VIPs in his life were able to call in and record a special message to him.  Over 50 people called and left messages!  We know Poppy is going to have a great time listening to them in the coming days!

We wrote a poem:

We can’t believe you’re the big 7-0 / Where did all of this time go?

A great deal of time was spent drinking fine wine / Or eating at Morton’s, your favorite place to dine

Time was spent securing life insurance for each of us / Each Hannukah we look forward to this tradition, an absolute must!

With 10 different phone numbers, its amazing we’re able to keep in touch / Really?  These days, anything more than 1 number is a bit much

When we see the color purple, we know you’re not far away / We predict over the next 30 years, your sweater vests are here to stay?

You have your hands full with 4 grandkids, soon to be five thanks to us / It may be time to trade in your car and purchase a yellow bus

We can always count on you to have the latest and greatest technology / What will you bring home from China next?  We’ll have to wait and see!

We haven’t had to buy soap, towels or lotion for years / We have Hu-Friedy to thank for that…make sure to stock up before you switch gears

On a more serious note, you’re the most generous guy we know / Being able to return the favor one day is our ultimate goal

So happy 70th, we’re so glad we are with you to share / We’re looking forward to celebrating many more healthy years

Thanksgiving Weekend 2012

We had a quiet Thanksgiving this year (probably for the first and last time ever).  We were still recovering from my trip to the emergency room (early Wednesday morning) and definitely benefited from a low-key weekend at home.

Adorable Thanksgiving art with Breanna

Dinner for 3 – Thursday night

Joey spent Friday morning with Greg while I enjoyed a sleep in and some Black Friday shopping with Stacy (it really is all hype-I can find a better deal on just about any other day)!  Joey insisted on wearing his “football” hat while drawing hundreds of footballs on his Aquadoodle.

Such good manners!

Joey took his art time very seriously this morning.  He spent over 30 minutes making Poppy’s birthday card (finished product to be posted tomorrow)!

We decided to venture out today and visited the Kohl Children’s Museum.  Although Joey was a little young for some of the exhibits, he definitely had a good time!

He had a blast playing the drums until the girl across from him whacked him with the drumstick….

The trains were definitely his favorite station….

The Newmans were in town for Thanksgiving so we met them for lunch after visiting the museum.

Bubbie and Abby made Joey a football cake for is 1.5 year birthday.  Isn’t it adorable?

Greg and I were able to sneak away tonight for a movie (Lincoln).  Aunt Abby and Alex watched Joey while we were out

Last photos as a family of 3 (G2 is officially full term as of tomorrow!)?

A football-filled Thanksgiving

Joey is still on football overload.  We played football at the lake and continued the fun in the park near our house.

Hugs for Pacman

Catch with Aunt Cari

Working on his kicking, as he knows thats the only position his mom will let him play….

Back home, we headed to the park for some more catch.  It was such a nice day that we had to get outside!

Finding the perfect spot in the park to play

Insisted on wearing his Bears hat under his winter hat

“I’m not done playing”

Fortunately, it started raining just before we had to take a very disappointed Joey home.  After a few drops in the face, he was ready to go too!

Happy 18 months to our ever-changing, perfect toddler!

Joey does the circus

Aunt Abby & Alex were kind enough to watch Joey last night while Greg and I went to Davanti Enoteca to celebrate our 3rd anniversary.  We had not been out together for dinner (just the two of us) in months-it was WONDERFUL and something we need to do more often.  Not only did they watch him, but they also took him to the Circus!  They said it was their favorite time spent with him to-date.  They got there early so they could go onto the court and see things up close before the show started…

Abby was responsible for taking photos, while Alex was responsible for Joey, the diaper bag and booster seat (fair, right?!)

Joey LOVED the circus, especially the elephants and jumping poodles.

He could have done without the clowns, however….

Mr. Fancypants enjoyed his own booster seat

Abby said Joey watched the 1st hour of the circus standing up

Sophie’s 1st Shabbat

We picked Sophie up from her parents on the way to Bubbie & Zeyde’s so they could run to Buybuybaby and pick up a few things.  She was a perfect angel for us….slept the entire time!  Greg and I also had practice managing 2 under 2 (and all of their gear) for the first time…..definitely some good practice for next month!
