Last Night

We had such a great time hanging out with Joey last night.  Now that I’m back to work, we really try and take advantage of the time we do have together….

This past week has been rough, as Joey’s had to take meds for his ear infection.  He’s always HATED taking his medicine.  We used to be able to give it to him in a bottle, mixed with milk but not any longer!  It’s been a 2-person job and we’ve learned to not change for the day until after we give it to him.

He’s gotten smarter over the past few days (or we have).  Once we started applauding him for not crying, he decided it was way more fun than crying and spitting the meds out in my face.

Joey loves showing us what he knows.  Check out what he’s been up to lately…

Is he FINALLY tired?!

He has also been talking a lot this week (not necessarily more, but we can understand more of what he’s saying).  A few days ago, he put together his first 2-word sentence (“Bye-bye daddy”).  It was adorable!

Other new words this week:

Pacman

Bubbie

Joey’s getting pretty good at falling asleep just about anywhere.  Today he chose Greg’s favorite chair…

Quality Time with Aunt Lori

I had an all-day training for work on Tuesday so Aunt Lori and Bubbie watched Joey.  Lori had early morning duty and Bubbie came to meet them later.  Here’s a great video of Joey hanging in the dog bed and playing fetch with Lori.

Catch

Later on at the Children’s Museum, Joey spent the majority of the time riding the vehicles.

Air and Water Show 2012

We met Bubbie, Zeyde and Aunt Cari for brunch this morning.  After brunch, we checked out the farmer’s market on Division.

Check out Joey’s adorable sweatsuit from Aunt Debrah!

Nursery School Orientation

Joey and I headed to Skokie this morning to check out his brand new nursery school!  Joey met several of his classmates and watched the older kids paint rocks/plant flowers.  He was a little unsure about the wood chips at first, but quickly adapted and ran around the playground like a crazy man.

This afternoon, we headed to Sam’s 1st birthday and had a great time.  Happy Birthday, Sam!

Company Picnic

We had Greg’s annual company picnic on Friday.  What was once a small picnic, is now quite the affair!  Between the company expanding (and most of the employees having children), it really has been neat to see SAVO continuously grow over the years.

Joey had a blast playing “catch” with Greg!  They practiced spiking the football, too!

I think Greg was happy to miss out on the water balloon toss for one more year, as everyone ends up soaking wet!

Brunch

We met Bubbie and Zeyde for brunch this morning.  Joey got to wear his new shoes from Nanny and Poppy (we went Key Card shopping with them the day before).  He looked super-cute in his tracksuit!

First Cubs Game

We arrived and met Abby just in time for the 6th inning, which was perfect!  Joey was content watching the game for about 10 minutes before it was time to change it up.  He got to eat pizza, a pretzel and nachos.  The nachos were definitely his favorite! By the middle of the 8th inning, he was ready to go (and we were happy to avoid the crowds on the way out!)

No words…

I wish I had a video camera following me this afternoon.  I’ll never be able to fully explain what happened, but I’m gonna try!

The day started off great!  Jessie, Hollie and I visited Sarah and topped off our trip up north with lunch at Michael’s.  Bubbie called as we were leaving to tell me she had picked me up a cute pair of shoes so I met her in the Sak’s lot to make the exchange.  By this time, the rain had picked up from a drizzle to a “light rain”.  While I was trying on the shoes (in the car), Joey managed to crawl halfway out of his seat to try and get to Bubbie.  I turned off the car in the middle of the lot to put him back in his chair.  We said our goodbyes but quickly figured out that I couldn’t find my keys.  50 minutes later (and after a call t0 Lexus and my husband), I finally found the keys in a bag of clothing.  Needless to say, I was soaking wet.  By this time, Bubbie had taken Joey in to Sak’s to keep him dry.

I met them upstairs in the club and found Joey running around barefoot eating cookies while the seamstress was fitting Bubbie.  I tried to do a diaper change and get him out of his wet clothes, but he managed to sneak away (butt naked) and run down the halls (with a cookie in each hand). He did make a stop, just long enough to pee in the corner of the dressing room.  Fortunately, I caught up to him just as he was squatting to poop.  None of us could stop laughing (including Joey), but I was SO embarrassed!

Running around WITH diaper

After getting him in dry clothes, we headed downstairs only to discover the monsoon outside.  I decided NOT to wait for the rain to settle down (because I was already pretty wet).  Getting Joey in the car must have been a sight.  He thought the downpour was hilarious (and I couldn’t stop laughing at him laughing) so by the time I got him belted in, he was soaked and there was a bucket of water in the bottom of his stroller.

I was more wet than if I had just stepped out of the shower…

Joey was out cold by the time I pulled out of the lot.  I drove downtown with the heat blasting the entire way!

LP Zoo & The Children’s Museum at Navy Pier

Although Joey has been to the zoo a bunch of times with his aunts and uncles, I had yet to take him.  He especially loved the polar bears and monkeys, as they put on quite the show for him!

Today we went to the Children’s Museum at Navy Pier with Bubbie.  Bubbie bought a membership so now we can go (with 4 other guests) for free all year!  Joey’s a little young for a lot of the activities, but there was still plenty for him to explore!

Checking out the infant/toddler room (hint: bring socks, as no shoes are allowed)
