Breaking the Fast

We broke the fast at Bubbie and Zeyde’s this year instead of at the country club, which was a lot easier for all of us with kids! Fun with cousins!

We slept up north on Saturday night, as we had to be up there again on Sunday. Bubbie’s on the Women’s Board at the Illinois Holocaust Museum and she had been working hard for months organizing a fundraiser at Arlington Race Track! Despite the weather being terrible, the event was great. Howie Burnett even taught me how to bet on the horses! Later that night, we went to The Schwartz’s for dinner. It had been years since we had last gotten together. We had so much fun playing in their basement, just like old times!

Pre School Dress Rehearsal

Joey and I went to his preschool for the first time today. We were only there for 45 minutes but were able to check out the new surroundings and meet some of his classmates/teachers.

I intentionally avoided showing him that there were cars at preschool until the end, as I knew he would remain playing with them for the rest of his free time. Fortunately, when it was time to go, they sang the “clean up” song that Joey’s already familiar with and he put the cars away without being cued.

We’re so excited for all he’ll learn and experience this year!

Weekend In

Rosh

We celebrated the New Year at Nanny and Poppy’s on Wednesday night. Joey had SO much fun with his older cousins, even sitting with them at dinner!

Bubbie joined us, as vocal and vibrant as ever!

Benji LOVED the holiday food, eating more brisket and matzoh ball soup than Greg!

We slept at Bubbie & Zeyde’s and woke up early to play in the basement before shul…

Last weekend of the summer?

Will this be the last weekend at the lake? We hope not, but if it was, we went out with a bang!

Ribs for Shabbos dinner (Joey loved eating them, but HATED having his teeth flossed to get the leftovers out). It’ll be a while before he eat them again!

Joey had a very exciting “first” this weekend…his first movie in the theater! He’s been working hard to earn a trip to the movies for almost 2 weeks. I’m not sure if Zeyde/Greg were more excited or if Joey was? They saw “Planes”.

The guys said he did great, and that he would have stayed for the credits had he been allowed. He would not share his popcorn with either of them!

On the way home, we went to the carnival in BG. Joey had such a great time! Benji even enjoyed himself, although most of his time was spent observing…

Sunday night

Greg had several fantasy football drafts last night so I took the kids solo to the Weitzman’s for dinner. It turned out that Uncle Billy had a lot of last minute work so Michele and I carpooled (and obviously coordinated the boys’ outfits).

Daddy holding down the fort

I was away again on business last week. I went to Utah and visited 7 incredible residential programs for our clients. Meanwhile, the kids were in great hands! Greg (along with Breanna and family) took care great care of them I was away!

On Wednesday, Benji had a photo shoot for Radio Flyer. This was his biggest one yet, as he had to try out for it and had his own personal stylist for the “event”. It was shot on location in Evanston outside this house….

Despite it being extremely hot out, Bubbie reported that Benji managed a few smiles and got the job done. After the shoot they met up with Sopharella and went to Bubbie Gogo’s for a visit!

I finally made it back home after a cancelled flight and a 10 hour delay. I got home just as the boys were waking up in the morning so I was able to get them out of bed and let Greg take the morning off!

Running out of lake house weekends :(

We had another perfect weekend at the lake…We decided to get out of the city last minute so we could avoid the crowds from the Air & Water Show. The Newman/Lightman crew was up for their annual reunion so it was great spending time with them!

Aunt Lori made a surprise visit on Saturday morning and spent the day. The cousins had a great time hanging out…they’re really starting to enjoy each other’s company!

We stopped at Nanny at Poppy’s on the way home to visit with them. The boys (especially Joey) were tired from the action-packed weekend so we had an early dinner and headed home.
