We decided last minute to have Joey attend school full-time as opposed to afternoons only. We think this ended up being a great decision, as he’s really adjusted to the full-day experience!
His teachers post a weekly blog sharing what he’s been up to. Check out some photos from class below!
He’s gotten off to a great start! I was anticipating some separation anxiety (as he wasnt thrilled about leaving me for camp) but he’s surprised us all!
It probably helps that he’s there with his buddy, Noah!
We went apple picking with the Burnett’s and Panozzo’s when we were up at the lake for Labor Day Weekend. Zeyde & Abby joined us too!
Abby and Goldie were buddies for this outing.
Enjoying a donut with Zeyde
They found the sand pit!
Benji is literally eating a new apple in every photo I took. He’d pick one, take a few bites, chuck it and pick a new one. I now understand why they charge so much!
Breanna’s last week was this week. She’s been with us for over 2.5 years! It was really sad for all of us to say goodbye but with 3 kiddos, we just needed someone who could drive!
We celebrated by going out to lunch on her last day before heading up to the lake. We’ll miss seeing her each day but she’s already committed to some Saturday night babysitting! Fortunately, she isn’t going too far.
Cool Aunt Abby had an event for Cubs families at the Shedd and we scored an invite! This was a once in a lifetime experience! The kids had a BLAST and didn’t want to leave…I haven’t been back since, as I’m not sure I’ll ever want to fight the crowds again! Abby promises that even though her days with the Cubs have come to an end, she’ll score us an invite again next year!
Goldie had a busy month 2! She’s still incredibly easy going. It’s really so nice to enjoy the newborn phase without being too sleep deprived (she only gets up once per night). The boys really care for her and are so considerate to her needs. Too bad they aren’t just a little older, as I’d have them changing diapers!
Her two month check up went great…she didn’t even cry from the shots!
Enjoying the last few days of summer…ice cream with Aunt Cari!

LOVES being swaddled tight – falls asleep almost instantly! Not such a fan of her pacifier. She’s just about done with it.
Benji and I spent the morning out together. We went to the West Loop Art Fair and then off to the park!

Stacy, Michele, Goldie & I planned an awesome 24 hours away. We hit up HP sidewalk sale before heading up to the lake and had a great dinner in Lake Geneva.
Counting down the days until we do it again!
Bubbie happened to also be in Lake Geneva for the weekend with her sorority sisters. Little did we know, we booked a dinner reservation at the same restaurant at the same time. Great minds think alike! Goldie had the chance to meet a bunch of Bubbie’s friends!
We’ve had the best first month with Baby Gigi. She is SOOOO good…definitely better than any other baby I’ve EVER met. She’s happy, predictable, easy to feed and put down for a nap…she’s just EASY! Since day 1, she’s been sleeping 4-5 hour stretches at night and goes right back down after a quick bite.

Benji is such a great caregiver. He’s always wanting to hold G and makes sure to announce to us whenever he thinks she needs something.
LOVES the bath too! I let her stay in until she was wrinkled.

On Saturday we went to the annual 4th of July parade in town. The boys were looking forward to this for the past few months after seeing a video that reminded them.
We did Goldie’s newborn photos when she was just 6 days old. She was AMAZING – slept for nearly 5 hours straight and woke up just in time to get a few “awake” shots. The photographer said she hadn’t had a baby that good in a long time!
It took a little bit of bribery (and about 1.5 hours) to get these adorable shots of Gigi with her brothers…
Everything went so smoothly…an easy delivery. We’re so happy she’s here and healthy! We decided to schedule an induction this time so we could be sure to have coverage for the boys and ensure that Dr. Sibul could be there for delivery (he didn’t deliver either of the boys).
We got to the hospital at 4:30AM and I was hooked up to pitocin to get contractions moving by 5:30AM (after a few failed attempts to get an IV in). I got an epidural and they broke my water bag around 9:30AM.
The Silverman sisters arrived and we got our obligatory photo in (with Dr. Sibul)!
Greg taking a donut break….
By 1:30PM, after just a push or two, Goldie Leigh arrived! She took a little longer than Dr. Sibul anticipated but she arrived happy and didn’t even shed a tear until the nurses made her cry! I was so happy to hear her apgar score of 9 (a first for a Goodman baby).

Greg headed home to take care of the boys and I enjoyed some alone time with Goldie before a few more visitors stopped by!

Aunt Cari offered to be “on duty” this weekend and bravely picked up the kids for an overnight at the lake. I didn’t feel comfortable enough to be a few hours away from the hospital this late in the game….Also, we knew this is the last time we’ll be kid-free for a while so we really appreciated the quiet time and in anticipation of Baby Goodman’s arrival next week!
When Joey got up there Saturday, he was pretty tired and insisted he had enough “air.” He wasn’t thrilled about being forced to go for a boat ride….tough life!
It takes a village!
All smiles!
Decompressing
Joey showed off his newly-learned swim skills (thanks to EBC camp)
