Guess we should still use those straps…

Hawks Parade

This was our wake up call this morning!  At first I thought it was Joey, but then quickly realized it was Benji!  We moved the crib down to the lowest level tonight.  Benergy continues to surprise us!

We were under the impression that it started at 9:30 (and we were concerned about getting a spot along the street so we headed out by 8:45).  We picked up Dunkin Donuts for breakfast and then secured our bit of sidewalk!

Little did we know, the parade didn’t begin until 10:30!  Benji was absolutely exhausted by the time the cup drove past, but he did stay awake for the big event (he was sleeping 60 seconds later)…

Say “hi” to Jordy K!

Picture-perfect lake house Weekend!

We had a great time at the lake this past weekend!

On Friday night, Uncle Billy and Aunt Michele had a special present for Joey, a Thomas wallet stocked with “credit cards” of his own!

Stacy and Lucy came up for Shabbos.  The kids had fun playing with one another and the adults enjoyed some adult time on Friday night, too!

On Saturday, Joey chose to go swimming.  We’ve been working hard at helping him to overcome his fear of the water and he did great!

IMG_0039

It took him a while to adjust to the feeling of not having a diaper on.  He walked around holding his “junk” the whole time.

IMG_0041

Joey went wave running for the first time this weekend.

IMG_0066

He first went with Zeyde and kept telling him “not a good choice”.  I didn’t know it was even happening until I looked out the window from inside the house and ran down like a crazy woman…I later found out he was wearing a lifejacket that was too big.  The grandparents were definitely in the “dog house” after that stunt!

He kept asking to go after that so Greg took him the next day (wearing an appropriate life vest)…

Abby and Cari were able to join us for Sunday!

IMG_0027

The boys agreed to stay back and be on “baby duty” so Michele and I could go for a ride…

6 mo. & 2 year checkups!

Greg and I took the boys for their checkups last night.  We planned to go to Whole Foods before our 7PM appointments, but it started pouring just as we arrived.  Joey insisted on coming in with me to pick out his own dinner (pizza and edamame) and thats when we realized we forgot to put shoes on him.  For those of you who ever find yourself in this situation, please know that Whole Foods does not carry shoes/socks for toddlers.

Joey ate dinner in the exam room while we waited for the doctor.  Dinner served as a nice distraction (and kept him off his bare feet) until the doctor walked in, and then he proceeded to lose it.   The next 20 minutes were filled with tears.  Fortunately, both kids checked out great!  We have never appreciated Thomas and Friends on the ipad as much as we did last night!

I’m excited that I no longer have to stock the fridge with whole milk and skim milk, and that Joey can begin eating low fat cheeses instead of all of the full-fat foods.  We were also encouraged to not push toilet training quite yet!

Benji checked out perfectly as well.  The doctor said that physically “he seems to be a 10-month-old trapped in a 6 month-olds body”.  He’s SO strong and amazes us each day with his new tricks.

QT with the boys!

Greg had work events the past two nights, so it’s just been me and the boys!  It’s so much fun to see the boys playing together.  Joey is becoming such a great older brother.   Greg and I were talking late last night about how it was such a great decision to have them so close in age!

Benji couldn’t keep his eyes open a minute past 6PM so Joey and I got to spend some time alone together.  I let him choose as many books as he wanted for bedtime last night, and we cuddled in his chair and took silly photos for over an hour…

Fathers Day 2013!

It was so nice to spend so much time outside today…the weather was perfect!  We started out the day by having Poppy, Lisa, Bill, Debrah, Naiya and Ellis over for brunch.  Joey had some much for playing with his cousins, both inside and out.

Crib Chatter

We had to move the crib down last night due to Benji’s newly discovered talent…

Benji’s quite the eater.  We have yet to find a food he doesn’t like.  Here he is trying yogurt bites for the first time!

Too young to realize

…just how cool these experiences are!  Aunt Abby took Joey for an up-close and personal tour of Wrigley yesterday.  He had a blast!

Mr. Independent

We often joke that Benji is a 2 y.o. stuck in a 5 m.o. body.  All he wants to do is whatever Joey is doing.  He’s working diligently on his independence so he may soon play along with Joey…

The boys hanging in Joey’s crib

Benji has been helping me get Joey up from his afternoon nap lately…

We played downstairs until Greg got home from work.  Joey decided he wasn’t a fan of Benji trying out his bike.  He helped him for a minute and then pushed him off of it.  TIME OUT, Joey!

Cherries

Joey tried cherries for the first time tonight.  Despite me showing him how to eat one the right way, he had other ideas…

Still laughing about it 5 minutes later…
