The boys had their very much anticipated sleepover at Aunt Cari’s. They made sure to do all of the forbidden things: stayed up too late, got presents, drank juice and ate on the couch.
As always, Goldie missed her brothers very much but enjoyed a lot of 1:1 time with us!
Best words to describe Goldie at 9 months: happy and thriving! She loves to eat, finds her brothers hilarious and always on the hunt for a gate left open or LEGOS to eat.

Big news for Joey – he’s getting glasses! We had a special day together that started with picking out just the right frames (see options below), getting new gym shoes and picking out a new LEGO set at Toys ‘r Us. We had a blast…it’s rare to get 1:1 time with him!

Aunt Cari and I ventured to IKEA with the boys. We thought they’d enjoy it more than they did. To make up for it, we visited the pet store across the street. They had a great time picking out the dog they weren’t actually allowed to bring home.

Greg was just excited as last year to participate in this tradition…at least I wasn’t pregnant this year and could help blow up the balloons for efficiently!

Sharing the homemade cards
Goldie had her modeling debut this week. The newborn photographer we used for her photos needed a model for her Valentine’s Day mini sessions. We jumped at the chance to get free professional photos!
Despite retiring from modeling (I stopped returning the agency’s calls…it was just too much work), Benji still loves posing for the camera (and then looking at himself on my phone)!

Benji and Joey are both thriving at their respective schools. Benji will be joining Joey at his school next year. We think he’s ready for a longer day and will really appreciate the Reggio Emilia approach they utilize. Joey’s been learning about the Chicago River at school. They took a field trip to see the river in action first-hand and they’ve been doing research to understand the animals that live in / near the river. Benji’s been doing a lot of exploration with different materials in the classroom and his teachers tell us he’s enthusiastic about learning.
The boys have been spending some quality time with Aunt Cari as of late and LOVE it!
She built them their very own Lego table. It has 9 drawers with their Legos all sorted by color so they can easily find the pieces they need. The TV has barely been on the last few weeks!
Goldie can’t wait until she’s old enough to go shoe shopping with Aunt Cari!
January was filled with lots of time at home!
After much begging and pleading, we took the kids to the bakehouse for the weekend. It was good to have a little “getaway” during this long winter season! They had a blast seeing the lake covered in snow!

We decided to take them tubing at Wilmot. The “baby hill” was closed so we took them on the adult hill (minimum age of 4+). Despite not quite being old enough, we figured Benji would love the adrenaline rush and we were right!

The boys are having a blast attending the monthly Home Depot workshops with Zeyde. They meet at the donut shop at 8:30AM for a well-rounded breakfast before the event. Each month, different guests have joined including: Noah, Grandpa, Billy, Abby, Alex and Aunt Cari. Anyone and everyone is welcome – come and join…they are the first Saturday of every month!
We planned a day out with Zeyde and the “originals” for his 60th bday gift. We had to cut the day short as we did a poor job of checking his calendar and didn’t realized he was already booked for dinner. Despite this, we still managed to squeeze in a family workout, lunch and manicures / pedicures. Greg watched all 3 kids like a pro!
We celebrated New Years at home this year with fevers, coughs and colds X3. We didn’t mind too much, as we’ve never really loved spending the holiday out on the town.
We did have something to celebrate, though! For the first time in a while, I wasn’t pregnant or sleep deprived and made it until midnight! Greg had been betting against me and it was fun to prove him wrong!
