Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles

Aunt Abby invited Joey to a neat event this morning.  We got to meet the Ninja Turtles and enjoy a pizza party with them!

We tried to start the event off right with a lollipop!

Joey’s initial reaction to the turtles was not exactly positive…

He soon warmed up and gave them all high fives

He loved playing peek-a-boo with Raphael

Lucy stopped by for a visit too!

Passed out in the car on the way home….

Our new normal

We had a wild saturday night out last night at the Yaffas.  So wild, in fact, that we didnt get home until 8:15PM!  The kids had a great time making “music,” each taking their turn crying or, in Joey’s case, talking non-stop.

Nursery School – Week 2

I was able to take him to class this morning because of the ongoing strike.  Joey cried the first few minutes of class and kept running towards the door.  He settled in after a few minutes and had a great rest of the morning.

Checking out the manipulatives

Art Project-  Joey liked painting the glue on the paper, even adding extra on top of the circles to make sure they stuck 🙂

Bim Bomb

Snack time is definitely his favorite time of day.  He was the last one at the table today, making sure to finish every last bite (even if they weren’t his bites to finish).

Recess time!  Greg forgot to put Joey’s shoes on before putting him in the car this morning so he spent the morning in his socks.

Working on sharing

1st Bubble Bath

Joey had a blast in his bubble bath today.  He loved filling his bucket with bubbles and pouring them out.

He wasn’t such a fan of creating a bubble hat on his head, dumping them off before I could snap a shot.

Happy big boy

Drying off and running like a crazy man through the halls…

Thanks a lot!

15 month appointment

Joey had his 15 month appointment today, a few weeks late because of his ear infection.  I brought reinforcements this time, as his 12 month appointment was a nightmare.  Joey loved sitting in his own chair in the waiting room and reading books with Bubbie.

He lost it right when we stepped in the exam room but Bubbie was able to calm him down while we waited for the doctor.  She did so by reading his favorite book, Knuffle Bunny (he’s seriously obsessed!).

His appointment was perfect, except for the fact that he lost a pound over the last 3 months.  The doctor put him on a strict, high fat diet.  Full-fat greek yogurt, whole milk, peanut butter, real butter, etc.  Zeyde was pretty jealous!

Height=32 inches (85%)

Weight=24 lbs (75%)

Head Circumference=49 (95%)

His development is right on track.  He’s extremely verbal for his age and the doctor said he’s doing many of the things that we expect 18-month-olds to do!

Enjoying a snack after his visit with the doctor.  Little does he know, we’re waiting for the nurse to give him his shots.

Zeyde thought it was a good idea to videotape Joey getting his shots…

Enjoying one of the last nice nights eating outside…

Joey’s “Big Boy” Room

I’ve made a lot of progress on decorating Joey’s “big boy” room, which we hope to move him into long before G2 makes his appearance.

Here is what we picked out so far:

Crib

Dresser

The crib converts into a toddler bed so Joey will get a lot of use out of this furniture!

I’m working on paint color…I’m thinking some shade of light, light blue or maybe navy or gray?

Everything else I like is from Restoration Hardware.  We should really buy stock in this company before making any purchases….

Bedding

Conductor's Stripe & Locomotive Nursery Bedding Collection

Heirloom Quilted Voile & European Heirloom Stripe Nursery Bedding Collection

Washed Organic Linen Nursery Bedding Collection

European Diamond Matelassé & Italian 600 Sateen Nursery Bedding Collection

Seating- We want to do something like this, but the price tag is a little ridic.

Grand Leather Bean Bag Chair

I’m working on a great alternative, though!

Recycled Canvas Number Bean Bag

Luxe Faux Fur Bean Bag

Printed Canvas Bean Bag Cover

…and artwork.  So far, I like an assortment of these best:

Be Curious

Be Wise

Share Your Ideas

Ignite Your Imagination

Enjoy the Ride

Keep an Open Mind

What Goes Around Comes Around

I Think I Can

Beat to Your Own Drum

Expand Your Horizons

A few vintage sports posters would also be cool…

For his unnecessary window panels, if Greg doesn’t veto:

Lighting…Joey’s ridiculously cute Jonathan Adler lamp (from the Bohrers) will be traveling with him to his “big boy” room

CPS Teachers on Strike

We’ve been on strike all week.  Unfortunately, per doctors orders, I cant walk the picket line.  Instead, I’ve been spending some quality time with Joey.

Loves holding the banana all on his own

He’s learned how to pull up the camera on my iPhone this week.  I get dozens of photos like these each day:

Are you ready for some football?

Joey is!  I woke him up this morning and put on his Bears jersey.  He immediately began running around the house yelling “ball.”  Later on in the day, he expanded his vocabulary and said “football!”

We headed out early for a mom’s brunch at Kingsbury Street Cafe.

Carey, Stacy, Lucy and Owen!

BIG NEWS: Max found his thumb at breakfast!

Got milk?

We headed out early Saturday morning to try a get a few errands done. Our first stop was Home Depot, which is one of Joey’s favorite places.  We didn’t find what we needed, but Joey still liked trying out all of the faucets and watching the hundreds of fans go round and round.

Next, we met up with The Bohrer’s for an impromptu lunch.  It’s so nice to see the kids getting along and interacting.

Loving his grilled cheese and french fries!

After a quick and successful trip to the Container Store, we met up with Lisa and I headed up north with her to visit Sarah.  We had a great visit, but left extremely nauseous from eating all of the junk food Debbie kept offering to us.

Later on in the evening, Aunt Cari came over to spend some quality time with Joey.  She helped feed him dinner and got a kick out of his milk set-up.

Milk

We’re not sure she knew what we really had in store for her when Joey went to bed, though….Cari is ridiculously good at cleaning out/organizing closets.  She was such a great sport!  We organized Joey’s new room from start to finish!  It’s all emptied out and ready for its makeover.  I think we’ve decided on a sports-themed room for him, but we’ll see how many times I change my mind in the coming weeks.  We did decide, however, to purchase Joey a new crib and not rush him into a big boy bed too soon.

1st Day of Nursery School

Waiting patiently with Breanna for Bubbie to pick him up

Off they go!

When they got to school, Bubbie realized that it was the same place she attended nursery school 52 years ago!  Great Bubbie GoGo met them in class.  Joey loved climbing up the incline wedge and rolling the balls down it.

Joey did participate in the art project (see photo below), but he preferred the time he spent at “indoor recess” because he got to throw balls around the gym.  When I asked Joey about his picture later, he kept saying “nana” and pointing to the yellow paint.  I was so impressed!  Bubbie said he painted the entire picture himself (except his name) and that he did a good job because he was so used to dipping.

Bubbie said Joey really enjoyed snack time (graham crackers and bananas), even taking the “left overs” from his next door neighbor.  We forgot to pack a sippy cup and he did an excellent job drinking out of a “big boy” cup!

After working up an appetite at school, they headed to Taboun for some Israeli food.  Joey loved dipping the pita in the hummus.  He also loved the pickles.

Time for a burger and fries (although he mostly ate fries)

Enjoying his first lollipop ever!

Next, they headed to Rosenblum’s in Skokie.  Joey CLEANED up!  When I got home, he had a ton of new board books in bed with him.  When we got to Bubbie and Zeyde’s for Shabbos, he had several new kippot and an entirely new shabbos set (see photos below).

Blessing over the wine

Enjoying the beautiful weather

We went for a stroll yesterday afternoon with Aunt Michy and Bubbie.

Joey had a great time walking independently and watching the kids playing soccer in the park…

Future camper?

It was all fun and games until Joey got in a fight with the sidewalk…

Fortunately, he bounced back quickly and ate a huge dinner.  Ricky’s girlfriend, Hilary, suggested we try Peas of Mind “french fries.”  She was right!  Joey ate them up and he especially loved dipping them in ketchup….

…and asked for more!

Joey’s off to his first day of nursery school today.  Fingers crossed!

Weekend with Nanny/Poppy & Grandma/Grandpa

Joey got to spend a ton of time with his grandparents this weekend, as we had Hollie & Mike’s wedding.  On Saturday night while we attended the rehearsal dinner, Grandma, Grandpa and Debrah watched Joey.  They ordered in dinner, gave him an oatmeal bath (to help ease his itching) and read Knuffle Bunny about 5 times (his new favorite book).

Joey was still looking pretty rough…

On Sunday,  Nanny and Poppy took over the responsibilities and spent the afternoon/evening with him.  They were wonderful enough to spend the night so we could live it up at the wedding and enjoy a night’s stay at a hotel.

Here are some cute photos/videos from their sleep over!

Reading Knufle Bunny (again)

Packing Up

After sleeping in until 11AM (we haven’t done that in SOOO long), we headed home to reunite with Joey.  Joey looked like a different person this morning.  He still has a ton of hives, but they seem to slowly be fading!

We spent the majority of the afternoon napping but were happy to meet up with Grandma and Grandpa later in the afternoon. Grandpa has been waiting patiently for 15 months to get Joey his first steak.  Tonight was finally the night!

Despite how excited we were, Joey had other plans.  He preferred the bread bowl to the filet and wouldn’t even try it.  Oh well, we’ll just have to go back to Joe’s when they come back to town!

He did LOVE playing with my camera during dinner and took some great shots…

Penicillin + Joey = NOT a good combination

Joey finished his last dose of medicine last night for his ear infection.  He woke up this morning covered in hives (and I really do mean COVERED)!

We got him in to see the doctor (he officially hates the exam rooms and doctors) and she said he had an allergic reaction to penicillin.  Poor guy is itching like crazy 🙁  Besides the itching, he’s still his happy self.  It could take up to 5 days to go away, so I have a feeling that him and Benadryl will be best friends this weekend.

Despite his eventful day, he acquired a new interest in a sport…soccer!  Check out the videos below (and check out his leopard-patterned skin, too!)

The photo shoot

Billy thought he was just having a few sisters over for dinner last week….  Unbeknownst to him, we planned to ask him to step in for Steve Feferman (our family photographer).  When he agreed, he definitely didn’t realize what he signed up for.  He had to contend with Michele’s “good side,” Lori’s inability to keep her eyes open, or my constant complaints about one thing or another….

Billy’s first effort was great.  When we tried to check his work out, I realized I had forgotten to put the memory card in the camera.

115 photos later, we had a few winners…

Most importantly, we’re all carrying healthy babies.  Michele and Billy’s baby has already proven to be the “difficult one,” making her incredibly sick and tired.

Baby Panozzo= ~9 weeks

Baby Goodman= ~15 weeks

Baby Burnett= ~28 weeks
