The ultrasound tech warned us that we shouldn’t be alarmed by silence because it probably too early to hear a heartbeat. When the TV turned on and the sound was working, all we could say was “Holy &*$@”. We heard a heartbeat even before we saw an image…Our baby was already ahead of his/her time. We couldn’t believe something was living inside of me. Hearing the heartbeat, however, was extremely convincing.
It was real…This was going to happen. The tech explained what we were looking at (which was basically a small, round beating image) and said the baby looked to be 6 weeks, 6 days. There was no head or fingers to make out. After we were finished, Greg and I starred at the ultrasound picture while we waited to meet with our doctor. I realized that Greg thought the huge black blog was the baby (which was really my uterus) and the white image was his/her heart. I couldn’t stop laughing, thinking how adorable he was (and thinking how much we both had to learn in the coming months).
We chose to share the Baby Goodman news with our extended family at Break the Fast…I can’t believe we’re going to have Great Grandparents and Great Uncles/Aunts in just 8 months!
